The Washington Post Names ASHP a Top Workplace for 2017

Published: June 16, 2017

ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) has been selected as one of The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces for 2017. This marks the second consecutive year that ASHP has been named one of the Top Workplaces in the greater Washington, D.C., area.

The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces list spotlights private, public, nonprofit, and government agencies in the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C., area with the highest ratings from their employees. Top Workplaces are determined based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Workplace Dynamics, a research firm specializing in organizational health and workplace improvement. To be eligible for the award, at least 70 percent of an organization’s employees must respond to the survey. Nearly 85 percent of ASHP employees responded.

In addition to being named a Washington Post Top Workplace for both 2016 and 2017, ASHP was also recently recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the 2017 Best Places to Work in Healthcare in the nation.

“This year marks ASHP’s 75thanniversary, and I would like to thank our team for its longstanding dedication to our members, their patients, and the ASHP mission. We would not be where we are today without all of the hard work and enthusiasm of our team members as we lead the way to better patient care,” said ASHP CEO Paul W. Abramowitz, Pharm.D., Sc.D. (Hon.), FASHP. “We work hard to make ASHP a place where people can thrive, and this prestigious Top Workplaces award demonstrates the passion we have for supporting our members and each other.”

ASHP has more than 43,000 members and holds the largest educational conference of pharmacists in the world — the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, which hosts over 20,000 pharmacists each year. ASHP serves as the accrediting body for pharmacy residency programs, is the only nonprofit publisher of evidence-based drug information in the United States, and publishes practice standards and numerous other publications aimed at improving patient care and advancing pharmacy practice.

The companies selected as Top Workplaces were honored at a celebration on Thursday, June 15, at The Washington Post. In addition, ASHP is featured in a special section of The Washington Post on Sunday, June 18.
